My Story

“Like you mama, motherhood has initiated me
split open and re-membered, body, heart, and soul.
Like scattered stars, I gathered each piece of my new being
messy, painful, and profound
held by fellow wise mothers
I was guided by the pull of intuition, the whispers of the earth,
and the old wise ways calling me home.
Perhaps you too feel this longing for a village and hearth of guiding hands,
through the seasons of motherhood, to gather the pieces and come home. Welcome.”

I am Colleen Gerson~ a Mother, Herbalist, and Board Certified Functional Medicine Health Coach. Currently living in the ancestral territory of the Nisenan people in Northern California, with my husband and young daughter, our animals and garden of plant allies. With nearly two decades in Functional Medicine and Nutrition, and seven years of Herbalism and earth skills, I’ve worked with clients uncovering the deeper roots of disease and imbalances, through weaving these threads of rooted remembrance.
In the beginning of the pandemic I went through the profound initiation of birth and early motherhood. I longed for a space to connect deeply with fellow mothers about what we’re really feeling beyond the surface chats at playgrounds… what’s the shadow, the grief, the taboo and vulnerable spaces where we can share fully, support each other with our wisdom and experience, and really heal and grow together.
Mother Nurture Circles was born in the longing for these deep conversations, authentic connection, and support across the wide spectrum experience of motherhood, with a re-membering of the earth and ancestral wisdom, and to leave feeling held and nourished. We gathered once a month in-person around the hearth or outside in the meadow to circle, sing, do rituals and support each other.
I am grateful to share this blooming into an online offering that builds upon the mother circle. Earthwise Mother Seasonal Circles weaves my medicine cabinet of work and experience, as well as seasonal botanical offerings currently brewing for the apothecary to come!

More of the Story
Since my late teens, I’ve been passionate about wellness and root cause medicine, and while having the opportunity to travel the world for work in the fashion industry, I utilized all my available time and resources to gathering knowledge and tools for health and healing, beneath the surface of appearances. For about 15 years I paved my own path studying Functional Medicine Nutrition and Coaching, weaving a root cause and whole being approach, and opened my practice Vessel and Soul, using nutrition and lifestyle shifts, advanced testing and supplements, and most importantly, nurturing my clients in honing a deeper connection to their intuition and own innate healing and guiding wisdom.
Years later had my first experience with a master teacher plant, which was potent and beautiful, and unexpectedly led me to my future husband’s doorstep in Topanga. While hosting a friends herb school on our land, I found myself sitting in sacred circle on the earth in meditation with these fellow students, and the plant spirits began to speak to me through my blood and bones. It felt like I was coming home, bridging the learnings of all the book knowledge, science and research over the years, with a bone tingling re-membering of the wisdom of the earth, spirit, and my ancestors.
I continued to study folk, traditional and clinical herbalism from more human and plant teachers. I wove this into my one-on-one work with clients, and pulled together the deeper threads to find healing for many chronic, stubborn conditions (you can read testimonials here). Over several years I formulated products and led product education for out botanical intimacy line FORIA, and consulted on formulations for brands like Needed and Allies.
My husband and I consciously conceived, and during the pandemic we had a beautiful natural breech birth at home, and I poured myself fully into these first 4+ years as a full-time mom. Mother Nurture Circles was born in the longing for deep conversations, authentic connection, support and nourishment for myself and fellow mothers. I longed for a space to connect deeply with mothers about what we’re really feeling beyond the surface chats at playgrounds… what’s the shadow, the grief, the vulnerable spaces where we can share fully, support each other with our wisdom and experience, and really heal and grow together. We would gather once a month in-person around the hearth or outside in the meadow to circle, sing, do rituals and support eachother.
I am so incredibly honored and grateful that this garden of work is now blooming into an online offering as Earthwise Mother Seasonal Circles, weaving my medicine cabinet of work and experience, as well as seasonal botanical offerings currently brewing for the apothecary to come!
